A much cherished 1970's beachfront cottage was in need of a full renovation with an extension to the living area. In order to preserve the humble feeling of this home, we proposed a sensitive upgrade with some beautiful additions that tied into both the property and the place.
A new and extended lounge area with glass doors looking out to the beach, and a pergola extending over the entrance door and into the lounge to bring in all the light. The TV room was to remain in the centre of the home, creating a private and cosy room in contrast with the open plan and light flooded areas, with a feature porthole window addition.
A dark timber kitchen with timber ceiling framed by a nibbed wall stood in elegant contrast to the light and airy open plan dining and living beyond.
The bedroom was envisioned as a hotel spa-like space with soft curtaining acting as screening, and glass bringing the ocean views in.
